Interests
Read more about my interests in research.
I study how physical activity, sedentary behaviour and fitness can affect a person's physical and mental health. This is done in both epidemiological and experimental studies involving young people, adults and older people. In some of the studies, we are particularly interested in how physical activity can be used as a treatment for disease, and in other studies, the focus is on the preventive effect.
Some of the studies I work with are purely epidemiological. I am responsible for GIH's work with quality assurance and analysis of data on physical activity within the nationwide SCAPIS study and conduct registry research in the quality register SWEDEHEART. I have also worked with studies on how physical exercise helps people living with mental illness.
Other studies deal with acute physiological effects of sedentary or physical activity, mainly on cognition and brain circulation.
To be able to conduct good studies on physical activity, good measurement methods are required. I am therefore also working on studies on how data from motion sensors and surveys can be used in the best way.
