Interests
Read more about my interests in teaching, research and collaboration.
I regularly teach at various educational programs, mainly in physical activity, method development and evaluation.
I have a great interest in promoting healthy eating habits and physical activity in children and adolescents. For me, it is important that physical activity and health are equal for all children and young people regardless of gender and background, and in recent years I have been very interested in working in areas where the need for health promotion efforts is greatest.
My research interest began when I did my MSc where I investigated the relationship between physical activity and risk of cardiovascular disease in school adolescents. I continued my PhD in a school project to prevent overweight and obesity.
After that, I continued as a postdoc in a school-based parent support project in two different evaluations to promote healthy eating and exercise habits in children in preschool class.
Right now, I am evaluating a family intervention to promote a healthy lifestyle in areas with low socioeconomic status. I also have an interest in measuring physical activity and have extensive experience of using accelerometers.
I think that collaboration is important in order to be able to more effectively develop successful programs to promote physical activity and health. I therefore have several ongoing collaborative projects both nationally and internationally.
As a researcher, I also believe that it is of great importance to collaborate with, for example, authorities, decision-makers and the business community in order to jointly promote physical activity and health in the population.
