Interests
Read more about my interests in research.
My research interests are in physical activity and the relationship with mental and mental health in both children and adults.
As a postdoc at GIH, I conduct research in two different projects in the E-PABS research group.
In one project, I use twin-based studies to investigate the importance of heredity and environment for the link between physical activity and mental health in children and adolescents. We use data from the Swedish Twin Registry, which has followed and collected information about children's physical and mental well-being for a long time. In addition, we collect detailed data on physical activity in order to study how heredity and environment affect the physical activity pattern itself.
In the second project, I study how cardiorespiratory fitness interacts with different outcomes of brain health such as depression, stroke and dementia. The goal is to increase knowledge about these relationships and how gender, age and other lifestyles can have an impact. We use data from a large longitudinal cohort of health data combined with a range of health registers.
My background is in epidemiology and nutrition. My thesis was about the risk of developing eating disorders and the associations with background factors such as BMI, nutrition and gastrointestinal problems, and how these associations are affected by heredity and environment. In my projects, I used data from the Swedish Twin Registry and data from a large register-based cohort study.
