New student at the library
A warm welcome to GIH's library! Here you can borrow course literature and other books, use study places and computers, and search for information in databases and journals.
Welcome to the library!
The library is for all students at GIH. Many find it to be a great place to study. Towards the back, there are study spaces for those who prefer to study in peace and quiet, while closer to the entrance, you can have quiet conversations.
In the library, you'll find course literature available for borrowing or reading on-site. There are also a printer and copier, student computers, and more.
The library has shorter opening hours in August, but is normaly staffed for four hours every Monday to Friday. More about the library's opening hours.
Feel free to ask us about course literature, referencing, how to find good articles, or anything else. Outside of staffed hours, it's self-service in the library, and you're welcome to use the study spaces and computers.
Welcome inside!
How to borrow books
To be able to borrow books from the GIH Library, you need to get a library account. With the library account, you can borrow books in the library's self-service machine, as well as renew and reserve books in our web catalogue.
To read e-books and articles, log in using your student login, the same one as for Canvas. You do not need to visit the library.
How to get a library account
New students can visit the library's information desk during our staffed hours to activate their library account. You must present identification. If you are a student, your details are already in the library system.
Borrowing rules
If this is the first time you borrow a book from us, you agree to follow the library's borrowing rules.
More about loans
The loan period is 7 days for course literature and 28 days for other books. Renewals are made automatically as long as no one is on the waiting list, up to 6 months for course literature and up to 2 years for other books.
Overdue fines for course literature are SEK 20 per overdue book and day.
