About the library

The GIH Library is a public library open to everyone. Our main task is to provide library service to students and staff at GIH, but the public is also welcome to use the Library resources.

The library has study areas, computers and printers that can be used by both students and the general public.


The library is normaly open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10-14 and Wednesdays 12-16.

Students and staff enter the premises with blip during our extended opening hours with self-service.

Are you looking for sports literature?Welcome to the library!

The library has books and journals, course literature and study places. There is also access to a large number of databases and e-journals in the subject areas of physical activity, physical education and health. The library is public and open to everyone, both for students and staff at GIH and for the general public.

The foundation of the GIH library was laid in 1813 by Pehr Henrik Ling when he founded GIH's predecessor, Gymnastiska Centralinstitutet (GCI). The Library has a large collection of historical literature.
