Research

The Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences, GIH, conducts nationally leading and internationally respected research in the field of sports, physical activity and health. At GIH, both basic research and practical research are conducted, often in connection with education and collaboration.

GIH has a tradition of prominent multidisciplinary research with excellence in research issues in a broad spectrum, from biochemistry to sports history.

The backbone of GIH's education and research in sports science, organized into seven subject areas. Each subject area focuses on specific knowledge and perspectives in sports, physical activity, and health.

The PhD/third cycle programme in Sport sciences at GIH comprises 240 ECTS credits, corresponding to four years of full-time studies.

Our laboratories

Our laboratories give GIH a unique breadth in how we conduct research and education in sports, health and physical activity.

Three laboratories currently contribute to the infrastructure for research issues regardless of research focus. They are are well equipped and used by researchers in their research and by teachers and students in our undergraduate courses.
