Subject didactics
At GIH, the subject area of subject didactics has a focus on physical education and health, which includes studies of subject knowledge, teaching and learning in movement, sport, health and outdoor life.
ISubjects, teaching and learning
Subject didactics forms a bridge between subject knowledge, teaching and learning, with a focus on how a certain content can be linked to different school subjects, academic disciplines or the practice of a profession.
Subject didactics is partly about general subject didactics, where different choices teachers make about teaching content, learning content and how teaching is done are in focus, regardless of teaching practice. On the one hand, it is about subject-specific subject didactics, where a school or educational subject and its specific subject knowledge, conditions and traditions set the framework.
Subject didactics thus forms the basis for teachers' professional assessments in relation to the subject's purposes (why), content (what) and working methods (how).
At GIH, subject didactics is mainly linked to the school subject of physical education and health as well as teacher education with a focus on this subject. Recently, subject didactic issues related to movement throughout the school in terms of sustainable movement education, health education in several school subjects and outdoor education in school subjects other than physical education and health have also been addressed
Movement, sports, health and outdoor life
At GIH, subject didactics focuses primarily on subject knowledge, skills and abilities:
- in, about and through movement
- in, about and through sport
- in, about and through health
- in, about and through outdoor recreation
Within these specialisations, the interest is directed towards how the content takes shape in the relationship between teacher, pupil/student and the specific content - as well as the institutional and political conditions of the content.
Collaboration and partners
Within the subject area, GIH collaborates with various schools in both education and research. Close collaboration also takes place in research with a large number of national and international higher education institutions.
