About the library for students

The library at GIH is the only library in Sweden specialised in sports science. You can borrow course literature, as well as other books.

You can also read magazines and use the library web site for information searching for different study assignments.

The library is also available for individual study, with a dedicated silent area.

Borrow books

You can borrow and return books by using the self-service machine in the library. To do this you need an identification number (usually your “personnummer” or birth date), together with a four-digit pin code. It’s possible to reserve books through the library catalog if you log in with your GIH account.

Reminders to return books, and to pick up reserved books, will be sent by e-mail to the address stated by you.

Library rules

As library patron at GIH you agree to:

  • return or renew books on time.
  • inform the library about changes to your address or phone number.
  • take personal responsibility for your loans, and to pay for lost or damaged books.

Loan periods and fees

The loan period is 7 days for course literature and 28 days for other books. Your books will be renewed automatically if there is no queue. The maximum loan period is 6 months for course literature and 2 years for other books.

If you are late in returning your course literature ("kurslitteratur") you have to pay a fee of 20 SEK per book and day.

To give you access to the GIH library and online resources we need to handle your personal data (name, address, birth date, phone number and e-mail address).

The library is opened Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 10 am to 4 pm, and Wednesday 12 am to 4 pm. Students and staff can access the library in the morning and evening.
