"I want to work to get as fair a sport as possible"

Matilda Woxén wants to work to achieve as fair and equal a sport as possible, and therefore chose GIH's master's program with a specialisation in sustainable sports and health development.

Why have you chosen to study this programme?

– GIH felt like a natural choice for me, partly because I'm from Stockholm, so I'm close to the school, and partly because I'm interested in strategic leadership and curious about how to develop sports organisations in a sustainable way.

– I also looked at other master's programmes at other schools around Sweden, but then it was precisely this specialisation that I chose to do.

What is it like to be a student in the master's programme?

– It's both fun, challenging and very developing! The studies are based on the fact that we spend a lot of time at home and don't have many days at school, so they require self-discipline, but they also offer an opportunity to be flexible, which I think is very good. You get the space to plan your studies yourself.

– Then this specialisation is based on a lot, seminars and discussions, which is very rewarding.

What do you get to study in the programme?

– So far, we have read a lot about strategic leadership, we have discussed many inclusion issues and how to use sport as a tool. Right now, we are working on professional assessment in sports and movement, as well as new perspectives on learning.

What opportunities do you see with your education?

– I see lots of opportunities with this education. To get to work with gender equality issues and inclusion issues in various sports organisations and associations, I would find very exciting, rewarding and above all, useful.

What are you passionate about?

– I am primarily passionate about sports, and I am also passionate about gender equality issues and inclusion issues. Above all, I want to work to ensure that we have as fair and equal a sport as possible. I want a fair, equal sport, regardless of whether you are a boy, a girl or another identity, and I want everyone to have the same conditions.
