About the course
This course is aimed at coaches, teachers, instructors, and other leaders involved in activities such as sports, exercise, and dance who are interested in creating more psychologically healthy environments.
You will receive knowledge of theory, research findings, and practical implications. Via a combination of lectures, readings, discussions and interactive tasks, we will focus on how research can be translated into practice for real-world impact.
Self-Determination Theory (SDT) will serve as a foundation, and topics will include maltreatment (abuse) and psychological safety; early vs. late specialisation and diversification; perfectionistic climates; and what it takes for leisure activities to promote mental health.
