The doctoral thesis

The aim of the thesis is to investigate and analyze the conditions for young equestrians to exercise their rights to participate and make their voices heard. The four questions of the study are about young equestrians, leaders, and the contexts they find themselves in.

The results show that the young equestrians seem satisfied, and express that they are involved, but that there are both stated and unstated conditions for participation. The young equestrians want to be more involved around the horse and adapt in different ways to gain access to it. The way adults view young people and how norms and values at riding schools are traded and maintained, conditions participation.
