Research

The Swedish School of Sport and Health Sciences, GIH, conducts nationally leading and internationally respected research in the field of sports, physical activity, and health.

The research contributes to a positive societal development, especially for organized sports and performance development, for the school subject physical education and health, as well as for physical activity, sustainability and health.

The university's profile is "man in motion" from a salutogenic perspective. At GIH, both basic research and practical research are conducted, often in connection with education and collaboration.

The ambition is for research, education, and collaboration to promote and enrich each other. In sport, physical activity, and health, research is conducted in the multidisciplinary subject of sport science.

At GIH, sport science consists of seven subject areas:

  • Biomechanics
  • Physiology
  • Physical Activity and Health
  • Psychology
  • Sport Culture
  • Sport Education
  • Sport Pedagogy
